1. Start
Items Required: None
Items Suggested: Teleporting means to access five different farming patches

Talk to Martin the Martin the Master Gardener in Draynor. He will tell you that his roses are not as good as they used to be and crops have been getting smaller. Promise to help him out. You will now need to go talk to five farmers around RuneScape and ask each one if they are a G.A.G. member. The farmers you will need to talk to are found only at farming patches. Check out our farming guide or use your ingame RuneScape map for help in locating five farming patches. Each farmer you talk to will give you a different reason for the crop problems. No matter which order you go in, the fifth farmer you talk to will always say the problem lies with the fairies.

Two of the many Possible Farmer Routes:

  • Walk on foot from Draynor Village to Rimmington, Entrana (no weapons or armour permitted), South of Falador, West of Lumbridge and North of Lumbridge.
  • Teleport from Draynor to West of Port Phasmatys (Ectophial), Varrock Castle (Teleport to Varrock), South of Falador and Taverley (Teleport to Falador) and finally Catherby (Teleport to Camelot)

2: Fairy problem
Items Required: Dramen or Lunar staff
Items Suggested: None

Once a farmer has told you they think the problem is with fairies, go back to Draynor Village and talk to Martin. He will tell you to go to the lost city, Zanaris. Remember to take your Dramen or Lunar staff with you from the Draynor Bank! If you have lost yours, you will need to follow the steps in the Lost City Quest to obtain a new one. Equip it and go to the wooden house in the south-central part of Lumbridge Swamp which you entered in the Lost City quest. When you enter the house, you will be transported to Zanaris.

Walk south and talk to the Fairy Godfather. Ask him where the queen is and proceed west through Zanaris. Go to the room north of the bank of Zanaris and talk to Fairy Nuff.

Fairy Queen

3: Trying to heal the Queen
Items Required: Spade, Secateurs, Ghostspeak Amulet
Items Suggested: Filled druid pouch and Silver sickle (b)

The queen is sick. Fairy Nuff will give you a list of her symptoms. Now go to Falador and walk west to Dark Wizards' Tower. Go to the highest floor and talk to Zandar Horfyre there. He will tell you to go talk to a necromancer called Malignus Mortifer. If you haven't bought or taken your secateurs from bank or tool leprechaun yet, now is the time to get them. He can be found slightly north-west from Port Sarim, or by going south-west from Falador's south gate. Talk to Malignus and he will ask you to fetch a skull from a grave on the grounds of Draynor Manor. The grave is located north of the manor, near the gallows on the inner side of the fence surrounding the manor. Get a spade from the easternmost room of the manor and dig while standing on the grave to get a skull.

4: Blessing the Secateurs

Now, go back to Malignus and talk about the quest once more. Now, he will tell you what you need to bless your secateurs. He will ask you to get three different items and a pair of secateurs. Get the items he asked you to get and go talk to the Nature Spirit in the grotto on the small island in the southern part of Mort Myre Swamp. If you have any food items that you need to take to him, you should bring a filled druid pouch with you or they will rot. Remember to take your Ghostspeak Amulet with you! Talk to the Nature Spirit and ask him to bless your secateurs.

5. The Battle
Items Required: Magic secateurs
Items Suggested: Food or Armour to defeat a level 98 monster

Head back into Zanaris and proceed south-west then all the way south to a room where the Cosmic Altar Ruins are located. Enter the shady grove on the west side of the room. You will emerge into a long, winding tunnel. Go to the room at the end of the tunnel where you will find several baby Tanglefoot creatures and the large Tanglefoot. While avoiding the babies, equip your magic secateurs and kill the Tanglefoot. There are no safespots, but it is fairly easy to defeat. Pick up the Queen's secateurs that the Tanglefoot drops.

This quest is a requirement for:

Tips, Tricks & Notes

  • Secateurs can be bought from any farming shop.
  • Tanglefoot only attacks with melee, so use of protect from melee is advised.
  • If you lose or drop your enchanted secateurs, then you have to pay Malignus Mortifer 40k to get another pair back.
  • The leprechauns at any farming patch will hold your magic secateurs in their secateurs holding spot (but not both types at once).
  • When Magic Secateurs are equipped they will increase the amount of vegetables, herbs or hops harvested by up to 10%.
  • If one of your three items needed for blessing the secaturs is edible, make sure to bring a Blessed sickle and Filled Druid pouch, otherwise the Ghasts will spoil it.
  • If you have completed Lunar Diplomacy you can use your Lunar Staff in place of a Dramen Staff. It will work in exactly the same way.
